Teaching School Newsletter

Mr T Kapur CBE CEO of The Dean Trust

Our newsletter will provide half-termly updates on activities delivered in conjunction with our partner schools. The newsletter will encompass updates from all aspects of our Teaching School business.

A Message from the CEO of The Dean Trust

I would like to begin this edition of our newsletter by expressing our congratulations to Kate Baddeley who recently secured the position as Deputy Director for the Regional Schools’ Commissioner for Lancashire and West Yorkshire. Kate was appointed Head of Teaching School at The Dean Trust in January 2016 and she has been highly effective in ensuring that we have been able to further enhance our capacity for high quality school-to-school support, school-led Initial Teacher Training and continued professional development. Kate has been a highly valued senior leader and colleague at The Dean Trust and we wish her every success in her new role.

As we highlighted in our April Newsletter, we were delighted to announce the appointment of a new Executive Board member to our Trust, Andy Shakos. Andy joined us after a very successful tenure as Headteacher of Parrs Wood High School, Manchester’s largest secondary school, and we are pleased that Andy will now take responsibility for our Teaching School moving forward. I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome back Helen Parkinson whom secured our SCITT designation and then very successfully led the SCITT for the first two years. Helen has now returned to her senior leadership position at Ashton on Mersey School after a period of maternity leave. The operational management continues to be led by the SCITT Manager, Sam Buckley.

Thank you for your valued partnership and may we wish you a successful end to this academic year.

Tarun Kapur CBE
